In 2010 I responded to a CL ad from a local piano teacher hoping to find someone to help one of her students get a quality piano in her life.
The students name is Kali.
This is her story:

This story would not have been a reality had it not been for several people working together with the simple goal in their hearts of bringing a little joy into the life of a deserving child.
I would love to see this repeated in the coming years but, I can't do it alone and I can't afford to fund dreams like Kali's. In all honesty, I am not in this business as a "non-profit". I have too many expenses and obligations to even pretend that were the case. However, my time is available for me to give away and if others will help fund the dreams, they can become a reality.
Here's how.
1.) I need pianos. I have to be very selective in the condition of the piano. I can't take in pianos that need total restoring so, that will count out most pianos built before 1950.
2.) I try to allocate funds that come from my "Haul-Away" service to "Kaili's Keys 4 Kids" program so, if you can afford to pay me to "Haul-Away" your old piano, that would greatly help. The fee is $195 plus mileage.
3.) Not all pianos given to me go directly to "Kali's Keys 4 Kids" and here is why; I am in business to stay in business. If I can sell one piano that allows me to buy two others and pay the bills at the same time, then I am going to end up helping out two Kids, not just one. I work hard and smart with what is at hand and I have to have the freedom to make wise business decisions as I go.
4.) Each "Kali's Keys 4 Kids" piano will cost the company at least $500-$1000 out of pocket in parts, labor and transportation, gifts are accepted but, once again, I do not have a "non-profit" classification.
5.) Lastly, if you or someone you know is in the market for a quality used piano and would like to purchase a piano from me, take a look at my "Pianos for Sale" and "Fund The Project" pages. I set aside a percentage of revenue from each sale to help with this program.
